[Nickle] Segmentation Fault in nickle

I get a bus error in FreeBSD and a segmentation fault on solaris with
the current Mint code.  Unfortunately, I don't have any linux machines
to test on since my CS linuxlab account doesn't have a home directory
(?)

it's not complete or commented.

You can recreate the bug simply by running the crashnickle.sh shell
script.
